About

Tony Shore is a Baltimore artist recognized for his paintings on black velvet of blue collar life in Baltimore. He received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and an his MFA from Yale University School of Art. He also studied at the prestigious Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.  His awards include The Janet and Walter Sondheim Prize, The Bethesda Painting Prize, several Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Awards, and most recently, he was the recipient of a Baltimore Rubys Artist Project Grant. Tony has exhibited his work at the Baltimore Museum of Art, The Delaware Art Museum, The Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, The Noyes Museum, Ethan Cohen Fine Arts, the Kunstalle Beacon, George Adams Gallery, and the Grimaldis Gallery, as well as many other galleries throughout the U.S. Tony is the Chair of the Painting Department at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
